Securities and Financial Instruments 

Securities are above all shares, share certificates, debentures, option certificates, and other securities if they can be traded on a market. Securities are also shares in investment shares (§ 2 German Securities Trading Act (WpHG – Wertpapierhandelsgesetz)).

The term Financial Instruments goes beyond it and includes also foreign currencies and financial market instruments, beside securities (§ 1 para. 11 German Banking Act (KWG – Kreditwesengesetz)).
